Family Pics

Here are some recent family pics. We are still trying to work on getting a smile from everyone. I am not giving up!

Slippin and a Sliddin

My Dad bought the boys a slip and slide when we first got into town, they LOVED it! I have a feeling that being here in CO, the boys are going to get spoiled!!!

Colorado Bound

So the boys and I are officially in Colorado for the year. Jason moved us here this past week. I will be staying with my Dad until Sept., just until we find a place to live. Jason will join us when he finishes up his schooling in March of 2013. We have plenty of visits planned. It will be hard to be apart, but we do know that this is what is best for our family and especially for the boys.

In Memory... Let us never forget!

Some of us may know when the Columbine shooting took place. I was a junior in high school in Chemistry class when over the PA, they made the announcement that a shooting had taken place in Denver which was three hours from where I was attending high school. The next day, everything seemed to change. Cameras were put in, a police officer was on watch, and the whole state and nation were literally wondering what happened. As a result, schools now take more and more precautions.

This event truly was heartbreaking, I never thought that something like this would happen again in my home state, in a theatre that I have been in, and to so many who didn't have to go (July 20, 2012; 12 killed 58 injured- 5 in critical condition). As my Mom and I took Jason to the airport, we stopped by the memorial. There was SOOOooo many people there paying their respects and words of prayer. I felt awkward taking pictures, but what I wanted to do was journal this in my blog so that I would remember and those who proceed me would remember. My heart goes out to the families that were hit hard from this incident. I do pray for their comfort as they mourn loved ones or those who were injured. May they all find peace, and may we all learn something from this.

My life with GERD

"Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms."

Some of you may have noted awhile back that I went to the doc for problems I was having swallowing. Well, the tests came back and I have GERD. It really stinks, he put me on medication but also encouraged me to keep and maintain a specific diet. With the diet and the pills, he insists that this will help me from not feeling a constant lump in my throat. I SURE HOPE SO! Here are some things I CAN'T have because of this... chocolate, dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, ice cream, etc.), citrus fruits and juices, spicy foods (like Mexican), tomato based foods (pizza, pasta, etc.), tomatoes themselves, onions, peppers, garlic, and carbonated drinks. Some of these things I LOVE and it will be hard, but I want this to work only because I am sick of not being able to swallow, especially when I go to bed at night.

The Spider Bug

The exit that we took had this on display. Since Jason loves bugs, we took a pic of it. I am not too fond of spiders, but I did think this was really neat!

Visit to the Tram of Palm Springs

Something that Jason and I have wanted to do since we got to 29, was to go on the Tram in Palm Springs. Sadly, it is roughly $26 per person to go on the Tram. Luckily, every year they honor military for one month. Jason got in free, my ticket was 25% off, and the boys were free, so it was a great deal! This past week before the boys and I move to CO, we wanted to do something special as a family. It was so beautiful. We could see the whole valley, the big windmills looked like ants (I know weird analogy). Below is some info about the tram.

First pic... compliments of google images (couldn't get a good pic of the tram)

"The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway in Palm Springs, California, is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world. It was opened in September 1963 as a way of getting from the floor of the Coachella Valley to relatively near the top of San Jacinto Peak and was constructed in rugged Chino Canyon. The twelve-and-a-half minute ride begins at the Valley Station at 2,643 ft and passes up North America's sheerest mountain face through five life zones (biomes) on its way to the Mountain Station at 8,516 ft above sea level. Travelers start in the Sonoran Desert and arrive at an alpine forest."
