Where we are situated, we didn't get the grunt of the hurricane, however we got some rain, wind, and some incredble views from the shore.
This past weekend, we ventured out to the other side of the island and took the kids to Waimea Valley. A lot had changed since we went 12 years ago however it was still as gorgeous;) The kids really enjoyed swimming and seeing all the “jungle” around. Afterward we drove past Waimea Beach and Sunset Beach. Before heading back through Honolulu, we hit up the Dole Plantation fir some Dole Whip;)
What I am enjoying more and more as we explore is the sweet memories Jason continues to share when he was a kid living in HI. There have been many (which I need to blog about) but I wanted to share this one.
He remembers driving past one of the pineapple fields with his Dad and Uncle Bill, traffic was heavy and they were stopped. His Dad reached under the seat and grabbed a knife of some sort, gave it to Uncle Bill, and he proceeded to get two pineapples. He then got back in the car and told Jas they were “hot” pineapples. Jason remembers being confused since the pineapples were not temperature hot and having his Dad explain it to him.
