Costumes... Phineas and Ferb

The "craft" for the holiday was coloring ghosts. Josh is more into eating the crayons and Jax was more into breaking them. But I couldn't resist taking pictures because they looked so cute!

We headed out pretty early tonight to trick or treat on base. Jason had to work sadly, but we were able to go to his work before hand so he could see them. The guys at his work got a kick out of their costumes. Later, we went to our friends house and proceeded to go down the street. Surprisingly, Jax did fairly well. He ran around a lot but did do some trick or treating. I would not have managed to do it though if it not been for my friend Tammy. You rock seriously!

I put a picture up as well of how much candy they got. Jax's bag is on the left and Josh's on the right. For being young, I think they banked!

I hope everyone had a good and safe Halloween... now onto more Fall fun!

Happy Halloween to All... costumes to come

I wanted to send out a huge Happy Halloween. Here is a brief history of where Halloween came from (me being the history teacher I had too:)

This holiday comes from the Celts of Ireland and Scotland. Each year, they celebrated the end of summer on Nov. 1st. It was believed that ghosts could visit the living the day prior, Oct. 31. So in turn, the Celts would dress up to avoid getting "caught" by the ghosts. Many European countries still celebrate Nov. 1st as All Saints Day or All Hallows Day. Traditionally Halloween is called All Hallow’s Eve. In some instances people dressed up and carried lanterns made of turnips. When people moved from Ireland and Scotland to the United States, they started using pumpkins. This is where the jack-o’-lantern comes from.They also had a tradition of giving food to the spirits. Later, they gave the food to poor people; now it is known as trick or treating.

We started the day with jack-o-lanterns pancakes, ghost eggs, and mummy's teeth (peanut butter and bananas).

Later we will go show off our costumes at Daddy's work, go trick or treating with our friends the Adams', then maybe get a good night's rest.

Trunk or Treat... pumpkin carving and painting

Here are some pictures from the trunk or treat, more or less. The boys dressed up as Phineas and Ferb from the Disney channel (I have attached another pic so you can compare) Now as parents, we are always learning lessons about kiddos. Here are the few that we learned this evening about our kids.

1.) Kids under age 2 DON'T like to get dressed up and pose for pictures (even if there is candy involved)

2.) Trying to get a child to trick or treat in a wide open parking lot is like trying to herd wild stallions to the stable!

3.) Despite how many hours of preparation you spent on making costumes to look cute; at NIGHTTIME no one really sees what the kids are wearing.

4.) Even when they don't want to trick or treat, they still get candy (the boys got three pieces of candy each without even trying:)

I am so thankful that the church puts this on for the kids and families of our ward. Hopefully next year, the boys might be more into it:)

Josh turns 8 months

Josh turned 8 months last Saturday. He continues to be such a delight in our lives. His smile is the most wonderful thing to wake up to every morning. He has a certain glow about him that no one can resit. He is still drinking 3-4 bottles a day, now drinking from a sippy cup of water and juice, eating what we eat but in bite size pieces, he still likes rice cereal, and his favorite YOGURT! He is ALL over the place. He is pulling himself up onto furniture and sliding across in some insists. Any bets on when he will be walking? He still claps like crazy and loves to be sang to. He is also a jabber box. He is starting to say DADA. He currently has two teeth and a few that are breaking through. Since he has a big brother and is the curious stage, we find little bumps and bruises all over:( Makes me sad but kids will be kids, and he doesn't mind much. I will keep you posted on our 9 month check-up. Here are his stats:

Weight: 26 lbs.
Height: roughly 30 in.
