At the ASMYCA, we celebrated month of the military child. There was so many fun activities that the kids were able to do. These kids truly are AMAZING and just go with it, regardless of where the military sends them. They are the true heroes!

Despite us not being in the path of totality, seeing the eclipse is always a special moment. Sarajane especially loved it! We left the house around 645 to see the eclipse from the beach. Cloud cover presented a problem but there was a very small window where we all got to see it. (Thanks to the glasses I saved from the last eclipse we saw in NC). Later before heading off to school we saw better pics of it. James announced it to everyone when we walked into the ASYMCA;) Super cute;)
We have been blessed with having a superpower in our household for 14 years. Through everything; hard and frustrating....to wonderful and exceeding our expectations.... we have made it as a family. Jax is our sweet angel who reminds us each day to embrace all things wonderful and show patience and love for things that aren't up to societal norms.
Since Autism has become more notable in the public eye, there have been quite a bit of discussions regarding how to celebrate these unique individuals. These discussions have led to what symbol, color, and even verbize would be best to celebrate Autism. Sadly, these talks have led to strong disagreements, hurt feelings, and sadly a division within the Autistic community. I have researched as much as I can and came to my own conclusions and opinions. But frankly, I felt like this thinking was solely about me and how I felt, not the person who lives with this superpower every day. So, Jason and I decided that we would present Jax with all the information; pros and cons for each entity representing Autism and have him decide how he would like to be celebrated.
This is what he came up with......
Slogan..... AUTISM ACCEPTANCE DAY/MONTH
Reference Term.... AUTISTIC PERSON
Symbol.... PUZZLE PIECE
Color..... BLUE
(which this was the hardest one for him. He LOVES the color red and right now there is a movement of redinstead.....after we presented him with all the info he simply said that blue best represents the whole community despite red being his favorite. Honestly, proud Momma moment right there that he was thinking of others too!)
And as a sidenote; this is how we are choosing to honor our Jaxers and we respect others who choose to celebrate differently. Bottom line let's just CELEBRATE this community of amazing people!

What a blessed Easter. Sadly, James was coughing a lot so we decided to stay home from church and be courteous of those who we sit around. We had a mini lesson and enjoyed the rest of the day as a family. We played games and watched Easter cartoons. We did enjoy a yummy Easter dinner packed with ham, mashed potatoes (which were my favorite), asparagus, deviled eggs (they were ALL eaten!), rolls, snicker salad, and cookies.
